Product Description
The M24 Professional Electronic Gold Tester from Mizar is one of the most advanced in the world. It precisely determines gold Karat values equal to or greater than 9K, 10K, 12K, 14K, 16K, 18K, 20K, 22K, and 24K in Yellow, White, Red, and Green gold.
It is easy to use, with results in as little as 2 seconds, operates on an included 9 Volt alkaline battery, and comes with a two year warranty.
How does the M24 work?
To use the tester, first clean a testing point of the item with the included Gray Eraser to remove any oxidation. Attach the Alligator clip to a different area of the Test Gold. Press either the Test Yellow Gold or the Test White Gold button to match the type of gold that you are testing - a Karat value lights up. Within 2 seconds, add 3 drops of Test Solution into the Test Well at the lower right corner of the instrument (where the ring is located in the photo). After the Karat value light goes out (within 1 second), immerse enough of the Test Gold into the liquid to start the "Testing" light. Hold the Test Gold in the immersion liquid until the Testing light goes off, about 2 to 15 seconds, depending on the Karat value of the Test Gold. Read the LED display that lights up to discover the Karat value of your item. Other Features:

Fairly accurate for the first (2) times using the same Chemical
Because I had most of the jewelry that I tested - "hallmarked" with 10 kt or 14 kt etc, it was very close and accurate. I have a hard time believing that after each test, I have to stop and clean the pot out, scrub it down to either get a repeat test or to use it on another quickly switched out ring.
I also had trouble testing Canadian .9999 gold coins and getting them verified as 24 kt ( usually showed as 22 kt). Dave Merrill on Jan 12th 2021 -
